THE SUNDOWN PLAYBOYS "Saturday Nite Special" b/w "Valse De Soleil Coucher" (Apple Records APPLE 44) UK original 1972 promo 78rpm
ULTRA RARE PROMO! Rarely offered for sale Apple Records promo. Apparently after listening to the track The Beatles joked that it sounded like an old 78rpm, so a 10" 78rpm promo was duly manufactured (in 1972!) with a custom sleeve. A great addition to any Apple collection.
Matrix: APPLE 78 44 A-1U KT & APPLE 78 44 B-1U KT
GRADING: VG+/EX (disc / cover)
DESCRIPTION: Firstly, I have no way of playing 78rpms so grading is purely visual. Disc has a few light surface scuffs, none of them feelable and no scratches. A-side is close to EX and flip has a few more scuffs, so have graded VG+. Labels are free from writing, A-side has small area of rubbing at edge, could easily be coloured black with felt tip. B-side has small remains of a sticker, but is white on white so hardly noticeable. The custom 10" sleeve has light creases but is generally excellent - it's flimsy but has no seam splits and no writing. Disc will be sent in plain white cover to avoid any damage to sleeve in transit.
