READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

10-Lot Classic Rock LP’s, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Hendrix, Zappa and Beatles!

(All albums will ship behind their covers in order to protect them both during shipment to you.)

1.  Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon

Vinyl--- Nice VG/VG+. VG doesn’t mean destroyed, it means “very good.” Lots of light scratches, nothing you can feel with your fingertip. Lots of original shine to balance it.

Plates--- F56/ F48.  Winchester pressing.

Cover--- Good.  Heavy wear, NO SPLITS.

Labels--- VG+.  Spindle marks on both sides, nothing else, though.

Inner Sleeve--- Plastic inner sleeve, NO SPLITS.

Inserts--- No poster or stickers.

2.  Frank Zappa Hot Rats

Vinyl--- EX/ EX. Both sides shine 95% new.  Side 2 has a very light, very short scuff.

Plates--- RS 6356-A (30926) -1/ RS 6356-B 30927

Cover--- Solid VG. Moderate wear.  NO SPLITS. Nice gatefold, also NO SPLITS. Small price sticker and initials written on front cover.

Labels--- EX/ EX.  Light spindle marks, otherwise new-looking.

Inner Sleeve--- VG. Original Zappa Bizarre inner sleeve.  Two seams have center splits, only a few inches long each.

3. Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention We’re Only In it For the Money

Vinyl--- VG/ VG. VG doesn’t mean destroyed, it means “very good.”  Both sides have nothing worse than 2 or 3 light scuffs which cannot be felt with the fingertip.  A moderate amount of very light angel hairs between the scuffs.

Plates--- V6-5045 SIDE 1 MGS-1250-REV F/ V6-5045 SIDE 1 MGS-1251-REV F

Cover--- VG. Heavy wear to the outer cover, light to moderate wear to the gatefold.  Top pocket seam is split about 5 inches. Name written inside the gatefold in ballpoint.

Labels--- EX/ VG+. Light spindle marks. Side 2 label would also be EX, except for the same name lightly written at the top in ballpoint.

Inner Sleeve--- Generic white, not original to the LP.

4.  Led Zeppelin Self-Titled Scarce Record Club Issue

(Some, although not all Record Club issues for all artists were pressed from the same tapes as the 8-tracks, which can sometimes have cool discrepancies in the mixes, as well as different sound quality, usually in the midrange. Not having a turntable at the minute, I haven’t played this copy, so I can’t tell you if that’s the case with this title.)

Vinyl--- EX/ EX.  Each side looks nearly new, except for a scuff on each side, which you can’t feel with your fingertip.

Plates--- T1- ST-A-681461-CRC-4/ ST-A-681462-CRC-2.  Each side has an insignia that looks like (ampersand)RP.

Cover--- VG+. VERY nice.  Just a little yellowing from the years, NO SPLITS.  “Manufactured by Columbia House Under License” is printed at the lower right of the back cover.

Labels--- NM/ NM. Features the reassigned catalogue number for the Record Club issues, “SD 19126,” rather than the more familiar “SD 8216.”  The letters, “crc” appear on the labels below the word, “STEREO,” as well as in the dead wax.  This stands for “Columbia Record Club.”

Inner Sleeve--- Generic white with rounded corners.

5. Led Zeppelin III

Vinyl--- VG+/ EX.  Side 1 has a lot of very fine lines that are concentrated in one area.  (See photo.)  Side 2 looks almost NM, with the exception of one very short and light scuff, which you can’t feel with your fingertip.  Nice copy!

Plates--- This copy seems to have been pressed with a slightly later plate on Side 1 and an original first-pressing plate on side 2.  Plate info is as follows:

ST-A-702005-C/ ST-A-702006-B (2) two, mastercraft, pr, -so mote be it, AT. Each side has the letter “S” machine-stamped in a circle.

Cover--- VG+. Pinwheel still rotates freely. Small tear and wrinkle near the pinwheel thumb tab. NO SPLITS. Beautiful gatefold.

Labels--- NM/ VG.  Side 2 label would also be NM, except that previous owner wrote four “X’s” on the label, for some stupid reason.

Inner Sleeve--- VG. Original Atlantic/ ATCO inner sleeve is present, has center seam splits about 3 inches.

6. Hendrix Axis: Bold As Love First Pressing Tri-Color Label

Vinyl--- VG+/ VG+.  Both sides retain 95% original shine, with only a handful of very light angel hairs per side.  Good-looking vinyl!

Plates--- 30725 RS-6281 1E/ 30726 RS-6281 1F. Definitely early plates.

Cover--- VG. Moderate dirtwear. Gatefold has initials in black ink. Top pocket seam has a 5 inch split.

Labels--- VG+/ EX.  Side 1 label would also be EX, except that there is a sticker stain to the left of the playhole.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Inner Sleeve--- EX. Original company Reprise inner sleeve is present, VERY MINIMAL WRINKLES, NO FADING, NO SPLITS.

Nice copy!

7.  Hendrix Are You Experienced? Two-tone labels

Vinyl--- G/G.  This copy has seen some playtime, for sure.  Both sides are riddled with light to moderate scratches and scuffs. There is one scratch on Side 1 that is lightly feelable. Not a gouge by any means, though. This one’s gonna play with some noise.

Plates--- 30681-3S/ 30682-2S.

Cover--- VG. Cover’s a lot better than the vinyl.  Price sticker on front cover.  One-inch split to the bottom right seam.  Uniform dulling over the decades. Otherwise, the cover is structurally solid, no other splits.

Labels--- VG/ VG.  Labels still present very well, but there are a lot of spindle marks per side.

Inner Sleeve--- Generic white sleeve, not original to the LP.

8.  Cream Disraeli Gears First Pressing Stereo

Vinyl--- Strong VG, Both Sides.  VG doesn’t mean destroyed, it means “very good.” There are those who would grade this LP VG+.  Only a light scuff or two per side, with a lot of extremely light lines between the scuffs.

Plates--- ST-C-671129-“A” AT, LW (three dots) W/ ST-C-671130-“A” AT, LW (three dots) W.  “A” plates, both sides are the first plates.

Cover--- VG-.  Moderate dirtwear, price sticker on the cover.  Top seam is split halfway, the rest of the way has moderate shelfwear.

Labels--- NM/ EX. Side 2 label is missing a few tiny spots around the playhole, otherwise NM.

Inner Sleeve--- VG+.  Strong color, nice and flat sleeve. Some browning over the years.  Bottom center seam split about 2 inches.

9.  The Beatles Abbey Road First Pressing

Vinyl--- VG+/ VG.  Side 1 retains 95% of its original shine, Side 2 is littered with light scratches, none that you can feel with your fingertip.

Plates--- F1/ F2.  Los Angeles pressing.

Cover--- VG-.  Spine has a center split, front has wavy moisture damage, not enough to damage the graphics in any way, though.

Labels--- EX/ EX.  “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” at the bottom of the Side 2 label makes this a first pressing.

Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

10.  The Beatles White Album Second Pressing.  No poster or photos.

Vinyl--- VG-/VG-/G/VG-.  Pretty ugly copy. 

Plates--- J61/ J53.  J58/ J42.  Jacksonville copy.

Cover--- Solid VG.  Not very much dirtwear on the front cover, back cover has heavy dirtwear.  Moderate amount of yellowing throughout.  First top pocket seam has a 2-inch split.  Second top pocket was taped back together.  Gatefold has about the same amount of agewear.

Labels--- VG+ all four sides.  Some light spindle marks, but otherwise NM labels.  “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” at the bottom of the Side 1 label makes this a second pressing.

Inner Sleeves--- Generic white.  One sleeve is not original to this copy.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
