12 BING CROSBY 78 RPM records 1940 & 1950 DECCA in period binder
Records are in nice playable condition. All play on my Audio Technica AT-PL 120 turntable , no skips, various levels of surface noise. (Shure cartridge) tracking at 2 ½-3 grams with no problems.
The records are: DECCA 23457 A: I Can’t Begin to Tell You; B: I Can’t Believe That You’re in love with Me . 28581 A: Hush-a-Bye; B: Mother Darlin’. 23510 A: File Be Yours; B: We’ll Gather Lilacs. 18586 A: Poinciana B: San Fernando Valley. 18354 A: Just Plain Lonesome; B: Got the Moon in My Pocket. 23745 A: Among My Souvenirs; B: Does Your Heart Beat for Me. 18708 A: It’s been a Long Long Time; B: Whose Green are You? 23350 A: Is You Is or Is You Ain’t my Baby; B: Hot Time in the Town of Berlin, both with the Andrews Sisters; 27577 A: Moonlight Bay; B: When You and I Were Young Maggie Blues, both with Gary Crosby. 23413 A: You Belong to My Heart; B: BAIA. 27830 A: Domino; B: When the World was Young. 27477 A: Forsaking All Others; B: Sparrow in the Tree Top, both with the Andrews Sisters. **Note that this record has some small chips along the very outside edge. This does not affect the playing of the record, and I am including it because it’s such a rare recording of Bing with the Andrews sisters.
Album cover is in nice condition, some wear from storage along the edges, binding in good condition and interior is clean. My personal favorites in this collection are hot time in the town of Berlin, is you is or is you ain’t my baby, When You and I Word Young Maggie Blues, Poinciana, You Belong to My Heart & BAIA. Of course, I Can’t Begin to Tell You, San Fernando Valley, and It’s Been a Long Long Time were all very big hits for Bing. His renditions of Poinciana, You Belong to My Heart & BAIA are just wonderful, with great examples of phrasing and breath control. Please email questions
