A milestone of the 90s celebrates its 25th anniversary: ??R. EM's “Automatic For The People” with the singles “Everybody Hurts”, “Nightswimming” and “Man On The Moon”.
The remastered album appears in different formats. The most extensive of these is the Deluxe Anniversary Edition, for which the entire album (and the bonus track "Photograph" with Natalie Merchant) was mixed in Dolby Atmos by its original producer Scott Litt and engineer Clif Norrell. This technology is a huge step forward from the well-known surround sound: With its wide and flowing sound, the listener is immersed much deeper than would be possible with stereo. The multi-dimensional sound takes the listener into the recording studio and is reminiscent of a time when listening to music was an active and powerful experience that could potentially change you.
The deluxe box set of "Monster" (25th Anniversary Edition) contains the remastered version and the remix of the album on 5 CDs, previously unreleased demos of the album and a complete live performance from 1995, which was recorded in Chicago. The accompanying Blu-Ray presents the album in high-resolution audio and 5.1 surround sound as well as a variety of video content: all six music videos from "Monster" and the 90-minute "Road Movie", which the R. Documented EM tour of 1995. The box set is packaged in a 5 ½ inch portfolio book containing liner notes by journalist Matthew Perpetua and archive photos.
Reviews
“Even 25 years later, it is fascinating to hear how REM fought their way back to life with 'Monster' after facing death on 'Automatic For The People'. After the melancholy mandolin sounds now a ROCK album. «(RollingStone)The remastered album appears in different formats.
