KAY KYSER - James Kern "Kay" Kyser (June 18, 1905 – July 23, 1985) was an American popular bandleader and radio personality of the 1930s and 1940s. Although Kyser and his orchestra gained fame through the "Kollege of Musical Knowledge," they were an excellent band in their own right. They had 11 number one records, including some of the most popular songs of the late 1930s and early 1940s. Unlike most other big bands of the era, which centered around only the bandleader, individual members of Kyser's band became stars in their own right and would often receive the spotlight. Some of the more popular members included vocalist Harry Babbitt, cornetist Merwyn Bogue (aka Ish Kabibble), trombonist Bruce King, saxophonist Jack Martin (who sang lead vocal on the number one hit, "Strip Polka"), Ginny Simms (who had her own successful acting and singing career after leaving Kyser's band), Sully Mason, Mike Douglas(years before he became a popular TV talk show host) and Georgia Carroll. Carroll, a blond fashion model and actress whose best-known role was Betsy Ross in Yankee Doodle Dandy, was dubbed "Gorgeous Georgia Carroll" when she joined the group in 1943. Within a year, she and Kyser married.

VINYL: all used! PRETTY GOOD CONDITION [di not play them] EXCEPT FOR #1, 2 and 12! Don't except great quality. NO SLEEVES! All must be cleaned before playing! BE VERY CAREFUL HANDLING, AS THEY MIGHT BREAK EASILY!
All used, but some look very nice and hardly played, some look very used. Did not played them. Need to be cleaned with alcohol-resolved solution and soft cloth first before playing as they are DUSTY. I did play some of the thousands I have, they played solid but with typical 78 rpm background noise heard. With these old vinyl records there are 2 things to say: they crack very easily and need to be handled with extra care when put down and when shipped. 2nd thing I've noticed is that they hardly skip, only if surface has damage, but you will hear some background noise!
Very good for resale, as value of most is minimal $4, and most I've found on sale for $10 and more! Some examples I found show records listed on this site for $18 and even $28, just copy the artist and title and compare them.
