One RARE, Vintage 13th FLOOR ELEVATORS LP Album, 'The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators' is up for auction.  This album, according some who are knowledgeable in this genre of music, marks the very beginning of what was to become known as psychedelic music and was recorded by a little start-up band from Houston, Texas in 1966.  The album was produced by the International Artists Producing Corp., also from Houston, Texas.  The producer credited on this album is Lelan Rogers, brother of songwriter and recording artist, Kenny Rogers.  Remember, Kenny  started his career in Houston with The First Edition (what condition is your condition in???) years before he made his mark in country music and film - Just a little F.Y.I. there as I digress.  Back to The 13th Floor Elevators...   The album jacket is printed on the back side 'STEREO L.P. - 1 A - No.1'.    The lead singer of The 13th Floor Elevators on this recording was Roky Ericson (spelled 'Rocky' on this album jacket) and the song list is as follows:

Side One:  You're Gonna Miss Me; Roller Coaster; Splash 1 (Now I'm Home); Reverberation (spelled 'Reverbaration' on the record label); Don't Fall Down.

Side Two:  Fire Engine; Thru the Rhythm; You Don't Know; Kingdom of Heaven; Monkey Island; Tried to Hide.

The vinyl record is in very good condition.  There are a few very light scuff marks which don't actually scratch the vinyl.  I just finished listening to it and it sounds as great as the day it was released - probably better, since my equipment is much more sophisticated than what was available back then!  On the shiny part of the disc, just outside the paper label area, is a small handwritten line which I can barely read - one side reads 1st 1A #1 B1 Side 1, and the other side reads (S) 1-A (S) #1 B1 Side 2 (The 'S' may actually be a 5 but it looks more like an 'S'.)  There are a couple of faint fingerprints which I will leave for the buyer/collector to remove as I don't want to do anything which might adversely affect its condition.  The original paper inner sleeve/jacket is intact.  The jacket is in remarkable shape for its age.  It has retained its bright colors and all edges are still sealed they were when originally manufactured.  There is one small wrinkle on the upper left corner where the cover probably was once bumped .  On the center lower front of the album cover are several very small dots which appear to have been made by an ink marker but in my opinion, they do not detract from the cool psychedelic artwork.

I am a native Houstonian and have had this album in my record collection for all these many years, though I can't recall buying it - maybe it was a gift?  Anyway, it has been rarely played and very well cared for and is the original, hard-to-find 'real deal'.  This is NOT the cheap reproduction made overseas - this item is the AUTHENTIC ORIGINAL!!
