Description
Rare 16" transcription records of NBC radio drama series "Best Plays". Title of production is "Autumn Crocus" , original date on label is 6-5-1953. This is an Orthacoustic Instantaneous record, meaning it started out as a blank lacquer coated aluminum disc, and a record lathe was used to etch the grooves into the lacquer. These are not pressed records, and the lacquer, being over 60 years old is very fragile. That said, the records play well with a medium amount of surface noise and no skipping. Approximately 1 hour in length. The story is a romantic drama, Autumn Crocus is a 1931 play by the British writer Dodie Smith. It was Smith's first play written under the pseudonym of C.L. Anthony.[1] It follows a single schoolteacher who goes on holiday to the Tyrol and falls in love with the married owner of the hotel in which she is staying. The recording features Austrian-born character actor Walter Slayzek and Carmen Matthews. All Buyers PLEASE NOTE this is a 16" record It will NOT play on a standard phonograph you must have a special TRANSCRIPTION turntable to play it
