18th Century Arias Teresa Berganza UK Decca SXL 2251
Teresa Berganza with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden conducted by Alexander Gibson performs "Arias of the Eighteenth Century". They include 4 by Gluck (2 from "Orfeo", one each from "Alceste" and "Elena E Paride"), and other by Cherubini, Handel, Pergolesi and Paisiello. An English stereo pressing on the Decca Label (SXL 2251 stampers 2L/2L), the labels are black and silver with "Original Recording by… at 10 o’clock, full frequency stereophonic sound fatband and ffss logo, and a groove. The record is of excellent appearance, and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. The cover has rubbed a little and the back is slightly grubby.
