cressida - cressida, vertigo swirl uk 1st press . generally considered one of the masterpieces of progressive rock. i always wondered if the cover was originally designed to be die cut as that would make more sense when you look at the way its laid out, and maybe the vertigo chiefs finally said no due to the zillions theyd blown on dr z and tudor lodge die cut sleeves.
grading is - cover / disc
vg+/vg this is not a bad example but has been played and has a scratch on side two opening track and a few further scratches on side two, the cover looks tight and clean, its had professional restoration and if you tilt it to the light without a plastic sleeve you can see perfectly colour matched touch ups on the cover where it had some rubbing. it seems to be the fate of every vertigo lp as the decades pass that the original printers ink of the covers seems to be degrading and fading, giving vertigo unlaminated gatefolds a softer patina of age and theyrevery prone to rubbing, anyway this ones been restored so it looks fine unless you really closely examine it. the spine was also restored on part of the lettering. ostensibly though, look at, and it appears close to ex. im being as thorough as i can with the description, the disc has light marks and on side two some feelable marks and will have an occasional click but generally this is ok for a playing example and fine to listen to, and its an lp that can top £500 in strong ex, so in my opinion, up to circa £160 is a good deal for this example, so pls bid with all that in mind.
ive listed around 60 rare progressive, psych, folk and blues lps on ebay in a big clear out, please click other items if interested to see them all. they are all getting harder to find as the years go by, and prices and demand seems to have gone stratospheric.
all are 1st pressings, original uk editions.
all lps are placed in period/vintage plain paper inner sleeves. any generic polylined inner sleeves have been discarded as they are unsafe and damage lps, as per the policy of many serious collectors. old pvc lined inners are ageing, chemically unstable, and sticking to lps, paper inners are the only currently known way to avoid it. vertigo inners are retained and sent outside the covers to avoid damaging contact.
most photos show the fronts, backs, spine and labels so cover condition is fully visible in the photos.
lps listed include sam apple pie, hungry wolf, gerry lockran, mike westbrook love songs, shape of the rain, cressida, idle race, five day week straw people, dransfield, fuschia, rockin horse, gentle giant, and the now very rare aubrey small lp with insert.
grading is mainly visual, all the lps have been fully or partly tested mainly on the run in and first tracks, and any visible defects have been played through to see if theres any audible results.
tested on lenco/cyrus/tannoy 60s/70s equipment.
