I am currently selling a series of great Richard Wagner and classic European 78 rpm orchestral recordings on all the great European labels:
Even though the 1907 complete recording of I PAGLIACCI is considered the first complete opera recording, HMV as early as 1904 started to issue large sets of abridged but basically complete operas.
Of these early sets with a Potted Cast the most famous are
Ernani (1904 - 1905) and
Il Trovatore (1905/06)

These recordings were recorded with changing casts and on different size records, but the records were numbered to allow for continuity in the set.

Lucia Crestani (Soprano) (Verona 1886 - Ferrara 1972)
She was a pupil of the pedagogue Vittorio Gelich. She made her debut in 1904 at the Teatro Carignano in Turin as Aida. In 1905 she already sang at La Scala, Milan in ‘‘Lreley’’ of Catalani. In 1906 she sang at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo as Stephana in ‘’Siberia’’, in 1907 at the Teatro Regio in Parma as Aida. She guested with success also in other famous Italian opera stages (Teatro Comunale Bologna (1908 as Aida), Teatro Fenice Venice (1908), Teatro Liceo in Barcelona (1910, Aida). In 1907 she had guested at the Teatro Coliseo in Buenos Aires. In 1910 she appeared at the Teatro Kedivhiale in Cairo. In 1913 she travelled with the Western Metropolitan Opera Company North America. During the First World War and during the 1920s she continued her career in the big Italian stages. In 1924 she sang at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona in Verdi's ‘’Requiem’’. Later she worked as a pedagogue first in Verona, since 1934 in Ferrara.

Records: Only five titles from her career on G & T (recorded in 1904) exist from her voice.
Caronna, Ernesto, Baritone, * 1880, † 1936 Milan (a fall from the staircase of his house caused a fracture of the vertebral column leading to his death); He already appeared in Trieste in 1902. In 1905 he was engaged at the Italian Opera in Holland, where he was heard as Rigoletto. He then had very successful pay games in Russia and the larger Italian provincial theaters. After 1910 he worked in the North America during several seasons at the San Carlo Opera Company. 1911-12 he sang with great success in the London Hippodrome in performances of the operas "Bajazzo" and "I Zingari" (also premiere of this opera on 16.9.1912) by Leoncavallo under the direction of the composer. In 1915 he had similar successes at the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires; Here he created the Faninal in the same year, in the South American premiere of the Rosenkavalier. He also performed at the Teatro Colón in the operas "Cavalleria rusticana" by Mascagni and "Le Jongleur de Notre Dame" by Massenet. Later he lived in Milan as an educator. He was a brother of the tenor Ernesto Colli, who was also a valued opera singer.
Records: the first recordings appeared on G & T (Milan, 1905), then phonodisc and lyrophone and Edison records (1917, among others with Spanish folks); Plus Edison Amberola cylinder.

Quick note on grading:
The Grade (Excellent to Fair, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately
When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to F), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.
These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.

Records will be packed safely between corrugated cardboard in a sturdy box with plenty of padding for safe shipment.
Shipment is usually Media Mail, unless another service is requested. Shipping is at your risk, I will be happy to insure items at your cost.
I charge actual postage plus a small fee for packing materials
As always, I guarantee your satisfaction. If you don't like the item, just return it, and I will refund the full purchase price.

Prices below are for regular 78 rpm records. Up to about 5 records, I will ship Edison Discs for the same rates. Albums from Album Sets count as 1 record. Above that and for international shipments, it will be actual weight plus a small packing charge (1-3$ depending on size of shipment)
1 record: 4.75 – 5.00$
2 records: 5.75$
5 records: 7.50$
10 records: 9.50$
MANY MORE RECORDS: Don't worry. I safely ship 40 - 50 pounds of records double boxed in moving boxes, and even then Media Mail will probably not exceed 30$.
