Obscure Brazilian Soprano
Malvina Pereira is arguably a precursor . A name that needs to be known and most studied . She debuted a year before Bidu Sayão born! And it was a hit in Italy when our most prestigious international soprano in the last century still playing with her ??dolls . And the voice of Malvina is owing nothing to the prestigious Bidu .
The records of his career cease in 1920 . Greatest mystery is its life. It is only known that he was born in Florianópolis in 1883 and was married to Cauli Ettore , Italian journalist who was acting in the press of São Paulo . I have written to the Secretary of Culture of Santa Catarina in search of other information about this famous unknown land , but not yet received an answer .
The clip above , taken from the edition of October 5, 1912 San Francisco Call , gives an idea of its success in the U.S. 100 years ago , in an article signed by critic Walter Anthony .
Pereira, Malvina, Soprano, * 1890 (?); Had originally from Brazil singer in the years 1912-1920 a successful stage career in opera houses in Portugal, Spain and the Italian province. Her technically educated by excellent coloratura soprano has become known primarily by recordings. First they sang 1914 on HMV arias and duets from "Rigoletto" and "Lucia di Lammermoor", they participated in a complete recording of Rossini's "Barber of Seville" on the same brand as Rosina.
Salvatore Salvati (Tenor) (Naples, Italy 1885 - Olten, Switzerland 1959)
He made his debut in 1908 at Caserta (near Naples) as Almaviva in ‘’Il barbiere di Siviglia’’. Then he had a significant career in Italian stages and appeared also in South America, among other things at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. In 1925 he guested at La Scala, Milan as Florindo in ‘’Le Donne curiose’’ of E. Wolf- Ferrari. He lived later in Switzerland where he appeared at the Municipal Theatre of Basel, but also in Zurich and in Bern as a guest. He was the founder of the Salvati-Vocal quartet (with Leni Neuenschwander, Paula Koelliker and Karl Theo Wagner) which gave concerts in numerous European towns. Approximately in 1930 he finished his stage career, but in 1941 again appeared on the stage (Municipal Theatre of Bern). Later He became a singing teacher first at the Salzburg Mozarteum, then at the Basel Conservatory.

Quick note on grading:
The Grade (Excellent to Fair, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately
When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to F), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.
These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.

Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.

Records will be packed safely between corrugated cardboard in a sturdy box with plenty of padding for safe shipment.
Shipment is usually Media Mail, unless another service is requested. Shipping is at your risk, I will be happy to insure items at your cost.
I charge actual postage plus a small fee for packing materials
As always, I guarantee your satisfaction. If you don't like the item, just return it, and I will refund the full purchase price.
If you are in the San Francisco area, I encourage pick-up in person.

Prices below are for regular 78 rpm records. Up to about 5 records, I will ship Edison Discs for the same rates. Albums from Album Sets count as 1 record. Above that and for international shipments, it will be actual weight plus a small packing charge (1-3$ depending on size of shipment)
1 record: 4.50 – 5.00$
2 records: 5.75$
5 records: 7.50$
10 records: 9.50$
MANY MORE RECORDS: Don't worry. I safely ship 40 - 50 pounds of records double boxed in moving boxes, and even then Media Mail will probably not exceed 30$.
