1918 TALKING BOOK RECORD w Die Cut Card ~ UNCLE SAM
Very Rare 1918 "Talking Book Corporation" Record
"I AM YOUR UNCLE SAM"
10 1/16" tall x 6 1/16" wide ~ record 4 1/8" diameter
This record is attached to its original die cut card of Uncle Sam. The back of the die cut card explains who Uncle Sam is: "The Uncle of Boys & Girls growing up to make our great country greater still. I am the Uncle of those soldier boys over there, in France, fighting for you and for me . . ."
According to research, these records were first produced by Emerson Records under the label "Talking Book Corporation". They were designed to get Emerson in the children's records market. The corporation went bankrupt in 1921. These records with die cast cards were fragile, made in limited quantities and made for a young market thus very few survived.
This record and die cast card are in near mint condition. There are no bends, creases, repairs to the diecast. The piece could use a cleaning which we leave to the new owner. There are no creases, folds or repairs to this piece. Beautiful condition, particularly for the age.
