Description
Melrose Bros. Music Company of Chicago, Illinois presents Joe Jordan's arrangement of "Copenhagen," a "phonograph arrangement as played by [the] Wolverine Orchestra," a bargain at 35 cents. Take note:
"It is advisable to give this number a careful rehearsal before playing it in public even though the orchestra is accustomed to playing blues. A study of the recording made by the 'Wolverine Orchestra' (Gennett Record No. 5453) will give a clear idea of the many effects obtainable that cannot be indicated in black and white." It's a Bix artifact without mentioning Bix!
The following parts are present, and are original except where noted: piano, first violin, clarinet, bass, banjo (photocopy), drums (photocopy), alto sax, tenor sax (photocopy), first cornet (photocopy), second cornet, and trombone.
The back cover advertises arrangements of tunes by King, Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton and others.
As you'd expect for something published in 1924, the pages have yellowed a bit. There is a bit of writing on the front cover. Where the parts are folded, the seams are intact, but worn.
