LUCY VAN DE MARK of Oakland California became the leading soloist at the Mother Church of Christ Scientist in Boston Mass in 1917.
She recorded a handful of Christian Scientist Hymns acoustically in 1924, most of which were not published then.
This record is a rare late 1920s issue of these recordings in the special Religious 50000 series
The records have added inspirational headers, perhaps to appeal to a wider audience
Her inexperience with studio recordings is shown by up to 10 takes recorded for a single Hymn

LUCY VAN DE MARK SINGS AT MOTHER CHURCH . ...
LUCY VAN DE MARK the well known and popular contralto of Oakland and the Bay Cities, who went East a few months agao to pursue her musical studies and work in the lgerger centers of the country, is at the present time filling the important solo position at the First Church of Christ Scientist, known as the Mother Churrch of the Christian Science denomination, in Boston Mass. and reports are to the effect that Miss Van De Mark's lovely voice sounds beautiful in the immense auditorium that seats over 5000 people. The clear enunciation of Miss Van de Mark also is mentioned as a valuable asset in connection with her solo work at The Mother Church.
Miss Van De Mark was for several years the greatly admired soloist at First Church of Christ Scientist of Oakland, and her legion of firends in Claifornis will be happy to hear of her present activities in Boston.
