Description
Here is an original of Tom Satterfield's first published arrangement of the Harry Barris tune "Mississippi Mud," the "Paul Whiteman Rhythm Boys Sensational Success." That's what it was in 1927, the year of the Rhythm Boys' Victor recording -- Trumbauer and Whiteman didn't get around to recording their versions until 1928. The Whiteman record is a Satterfield arrangement; I'm not sure about the Trumbauer. All three versions are on YouTube.
The following parts are present: 1st cornet; 2nd cornet; trombone; 1st clarinet; 1st sax alto; 2nd sax tenor; 3rd sax alto; 1st violin; 2nd violin; cello; viola; flute; piano; tenor banjo; bass or tuba; drums. (That makes this the 60-cent version, if I'm reading the front cover correctly.) The back cover advertises the latest dance hits, including "Side By Side" and "Bye-Bye Pretty Baby."
As you'd expect for something published in 1927, the pages have yellowed a bit. There is a bit of writing on some of the pages. Where the parts are folded, most of the seams are intact, but a few of the pages have separated. There are also a few folds and a very few small tears. The arrangement is, as far as I can tell, complete.
