RARE 1928 VICTOR 78 RPM – SMYTH COUNTY RAMBLERS – V-40144
Original vintage Victor 78 RPM record, V-40144, featuring the Smyth County Ramblers.
Side A: “My Name Is Ticklish Reuben”
Side B: “Way Down in Alabama”
This recording was made in Bristol, Tennessee, on October 27, 1928, during Victor’s important early recording sessions in the region. The Smyth County Ramblers included Jack Pierce and other Appalachian musicians.
This is an especially interesting record for collectors of early country, old-time Appalachian, hillbilly and pre-war 78 RPM recordings. The record is documented in specialized 78 RPM collections and discographies.
Condition

The record has visible surface scratches, scuffs and signs of age/use, which are shown in the photographs. The labels remain quite nice and clearly readable. I do not see any obvious major chips or cracks.
