Description

"SPEAK-O-PHONE" personal phonograph record, recorded at the Speak-O-Phone Recording Salon on the fifth floor of Stern Brothers Department Store, 41 W. 42nd St., New York City, in its original mailer, and mailed Registered in 1929 from NYC to Delaware, New Jersey.

The cardboard mailer measures approx. 7-3/8" x 7-1/2", and was mailed Registered, with #567 20c carmine rose tied by black "NEW YORK, N.Y./W. 43D ST. STA." double oval, and with purple NYC Registered postmark at bottom, dated Aug. 28, 1929. Return address of Roger Claret, Room 704, 9 East 46th St., New York City, and addressed to Mrs. Isabelle Claret, c/o Miss Louise Jansen, at "Villa Florence", Delaware, New Jersey.

The Speak-O-Phone record is 5-7/8" in diameter, silver colored metal disc, recorded on one side only. It comes in a paper sleeve, with advertising for Speak-O-Phone records on both sides.

A most unusual postal history item - great for an exhibit of the regular issues of 1922-1925, as a single usage of the 20c stamp from this issue.

The mailer is Very Fine. The metal record has light wear. The inner sleeve is Very Fine.
