Up for auction is a hard to find outstanding hot Jazz 78 by The Hot Air-Men on Columbia D label # 2092-D.Another fantastic New York Studio group.This 78 is somewhat scarce because it came out right during the Depression.The 78 was recorded on January 9th 1930 so it came out very shortly after that.78s didn't sell all that well starting in late 1929 as the Great depression hit hard then and most people conserved their money for more important things than records.This 78 has some outstanding musicians on it including a very young Phil Napoleon.Also has Carl Loeffler,Chauncey Gray,Ward Lay on string Bass,Stan King on Drums,along with Roy Evans on vocals.Also had Pete Pumiglio,Tommy Felline and Ed Kirkeby.Both songs are outstanding and contain some extremely lively terrific Jazz.The songs on this 78 are titled Harlem Madness on one side and has Navy Blues on the other side.Very nice looking 78.The Navy Blues side has about 15 small extremely light scratches along with 3 scratches right next to each other which measure a bit less than an inch that I can feel with fingernail.These 3 scratches do not affect play at all.This side also has about 7 tiny groove pit marks.Also if you look extremely closely right near outer edge of record there is 3 tiny extremely light groove lams.These are extremely minor and they stop right before the first groove so they do not touch the grooves at all please see picture.The Harlem Madness side looks to have about 15 small extremely light scratches.Also has 2 scuffs which are each about 2 inches long which run along the groove lines.The scuff caused these very very small little marks of which some can be felt lightly with fingernail.These do not affect play at all.Has a few smaller light scuffs also and a extremely small J shaped scratch I can feel with fingernail.Also has 3 to 4 tiny extremely light groove lams which do not go to the grooves.These are very minor.Both sides of record have quite abit of groove wear but the record still has alot of shine and looks very nice.Record plays absolutely Beautifully on both sides.The Navy Blues side plays outstanding with an extremely light background hiss when treble is adjusted halfway.Plays with no background hiss when treble is low.Has a few very light to light ticks but plays just Wonderfully.The Harlem Madness side plays Beautifully as well with a very light to light background hiss when treble is adjusted halfway.Plays with barely a hiss at all when treble is adjusted low.Few very light to light ticks.Both sides of this 78 have 2 Fantastic hot numbers.Both very lively and great.Comes with an original Columbia sleeve which is in Gorgeous condition.If the buyer is not 100% satiafied I have a return for refund policy on all 78s I sell.I'll be listing more 1920s to the early 1930s 78s some Jazz over the next several weeks.Please check other auctions if interested.I also combine multiple auctions to save on shipping.Please E Mail for shipping prices.
