recorded december 1932 - released in 1932 or 1933 !
these are untested as i have nothing to play them on that has 78rpm or the proper stylus . also , i am unfamiliar with 78 grading system so i will visually grade it like an LP , and describe them as well .
record No. 2000 is VG ( some light lines/marks + light and/or shallow scratches , some of which are slightly feelable with the edge of a fingernail . Nothing deep . some age spotting , see pics , flaking at the center spindle hole on one side , just starting to lift on the other , see pics )
they both seem quite flat , they seem to have been stored properly all these years .

RCA Victor launched a series of "Picture Disks" in late 1932, probably to increase sales in this depression year. However, the venture seems to have been unsuccessful, since these picture disks are rare, indicating low sales.
Tim Brooks in his very interesting review of the book "Picture Disks of the World" 3 states that states that 30 Victor Picture Disks from the 1930s had been identified so far.
"The Raven" was not issued with Red Seal labels although it is clearly a Red Seal quality performance.

"This Raven had its first performances in the Philadelphia Academy of Music in 1932, and RCA Victor experimented in recording the work onto 35mm optical film during the actual concerts. The result was issued on two special 78rpm “Picture Records”, whereon the poem, together with monochrome engravings of Stokowski and Edgar Allen Poe, were etched into the shellac."
