THIS IS A GREAT RARITY OF A 1933 Recorded Radio plug by Paramount Promoting Bing Crosby's New Hit Movie COLLEGE HUMOR. Introduction, then cast members singing the the hit song from the movie On the old Ox road. Bing is not on this record.

What makes it rare is that in 1933, radiostations had not yet started to make airchecks for re-transmission of Programs. Early Examples are studio recordings of shows, that then got sent to radiostations for broadcast.

Such is this early record: 78 rpm in stead of the usual 33 Transcription speed, 12" instead of 16", and these are ONE SIDED VICTOR PRESSING with the embossed Victor Back, on blank labels with the OVAL VE orthophonic Mark.

Some References to COLLEGE HUMOR

College Humor was a popular humor magazine from the 1920s to the 1940s. Published monthly by Collegiate World Publishing, it began in 1920 with reprints from college publications and soon introduced new material, including fiction. Contributors included Robert Benchley, Heywood Broun, Groucho Marx, Ellis Parker Butler and Zelda Fitzgerald, who was bylined with F. Scott Fitzgerald on her story "The Girl with Talent" in the April 1930 issue. [1] Editor H.N. Swanson later became Fitzgerald's Hollywood agent.

The magazine featured cartoons by John Held Jr., Otto Soglow and others.

The cover price in 1930 was 35 cents (for 130 pages of content). Dell Publishing acquired the title for a run that began in November, 1934. In the late 1930s, it was purchased by Ned Pines and turned into a girlie magazine. Collegian Press, Inc. was the publisher in the early 1940s. [2]

A competing magazine in 1933 was titled College Humor & Sense. That same year Paramount released the college campus musical, College Humor, with Bing Crosby, Jack Oakie, George Burns and Gracie Allen.

Pls note that I try to be extremely conservative and consistent in my grading. All records are graded with the same criteria, regardless of genre.

I noticed that my grading seems to be more conservative than what I have seen from other sellers, so here some notes.

Surface VISUAL GRADING:

EXCELLENT - clean and shiny, as new. E minus is the same, with light scuffing.

Very Good Plus - Clean, with a little more scuffing. Some grooves spots may have some light greying. Little if any distortion.

Very Good - a clean copy, some scuffing, some greying on a single groove or a few small groove bands. Enjoyable record, maybe light distortion on some top notes.

Very Good Minus - May have areas of visible wear, may have some scuffing or lightly dulled surface. Still a great record, but ticks, pops and some distortion.

Good Plus - a worn and scuffed copy. May have other defects separately stated. Plays well, but with noise, may require filtering.

All other defects (if any: Chips, cracks, scratches, lamination cracks, label damage, needle digs) will be stated SEPARATELY.
