Karl Maendler - A Munich instrument maker designed his own harpsichords on cooperation with the piano maker M. J. Schramm
Serious musicians would want to hear the music of the great Baroque composers on their own instruments. In the early part of the last century, that’s exactly what happened. Artists such as Landowska went to Pleyel or Maendler-Schramm or Neupert — all piano makers — and asked them to re-create the harpsichord. Today, many would tell you they didn’t know how to research it as well as we do. Back to the Hubbard book. These firms created in the period 1920-1950 instruments with great variety of tone and devices to rapidly change registers. With regard to reliability and regulation, the instruments were rather temperamental, just as the Baroque writers described. Audiences were enthralled and flocked to a two-hour performance of the Goldberg Variations and bought records of this mesmerizing instrument in record-breaking (sorry about the pun) numbers.

Ernst Victor Wolff (1886-1961) was a German-born concert pianist and harpsichordist who maintained a career not only as a soloist but also as a respected accompanist. Singers with whom he performed included Dorothy Maynor and Alexander Kipnis; he accompanied the latter in the Hugo Wolf Society recording project of the 1930s. As a harpsichordist, on February 20, 1938 he participated in the Carnegie Hall premiere of J.S. Bach's Coffee Cantata under the direction of Walter Damrosch; the other performers on that occasion included singers Charles Kullman, Helen Jepson, and Lawrence Tibbett; flutist Frances Blaisdell; violinists Jascha Heifetz and Sascha Jacobsen; violist Leon Barzin; cellist Gaspar Cassadó; and double bassist Anselme Fortier. From 1955 until his death, Wolff taught at Michigan State University. His widow and family donated a collection of his papers to the MSU library; it includes photographs and other memorabilia and his diary, student notes, and performing scores. MSU has established an Ernst Victor Wolff Memorial Fund to support awards to meritorious music students. Perhaps his most distinguished student was the American conductor, musicologist, and harpsichordist Alan Curtis.More Great Records on sale right now:

Quick note on grading:
The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately
When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.
These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.

Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.

Records will be packed safely between corrugated cardboard in a sturdy box with plenty of padding for safe shipment.
Shipment is usually Media Mail, unless you request another service. Shipping is at your risk, I will be happy to insure items at your cost.
I charge actual postage plus a small fee for packing materials
As always, I guarantee your satisfaction. If you don't like the item, just return it, and I will refund the full purchase price.

Prices below are for regular 78 rpm records. Up to about 5 records, I will ship Edison Discs for the same rates. Albums from Album Sets count as 1 record. Above that and for international shipments, it will be actual weight plus a small packing charge (1-3$ depending on size of shipment)
1 record: 4.75 – 5.00$
2 records: 6.00$
5 records: 7.50$
10 records: 10.00$
MANY MORE RECORDS: Don't worry. I safely ship 40 - 50 pounds of records double boxed in moving boxes, and even then Media Mail will probably not exceed 35$.

One record usually ships for 25 – 28$ for 10" 35$ for most 12" records (Less for Canada).
