This live recording is know for the problematic work of the Victor engineers: Some sides are very short and add a lot of shellac to the album, some cut offs are abrupt, and the balance between chorus and soloists is sometimes challenging.

This 1938 recording of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis by Sergey Koussevitzky conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra was never issued on LP. Decently enough recorded for the standards of its day,  there are still a handful of awkward fades and one or two missing notes. The performance itself is nearly as good as it gets. The first recording of the work done in America, Koussevitzky's Missa Solemnis is very different from any other performances then or now. It's subjective, but with the greatest possible humility; superbly played and singingly phrased, but with plenty of muscle and even more soul. Which is ultimately the best thing about Koussevitzky's Missa Solemnis: its subjective soul. If some passages are uncommonly fast and vigorous, others are so deeply, honestly soulful that Koussevitzky's conviction compels listeners' own.

Condition: EXCELLENT, scuffs, few sides have rare hints of grey spots. Volume 2 is EXCELLENT PRISTINE w rare scuffs. Both albums play VERY VERY QUIET

When I listen to a record, I may also make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a given pressing.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.

MANY MORE RECORDS: Don't worry. I safely ship 40 - 50 pounds of records double boxed in moving boxes, and even then Media Mail will probably not exceed 30$.
