Offered here is an exceptionally rare and historically significant 1938 original U.K. release of Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, issued by His Master’s Voice (HMV), catalog numbers B.D. 514, 515, and 516.

This is the complete 3-disc 78 RPM shellac set, housed in the stunning original Portfolio No. 1 gatefold picture sleeve — one of the earliest and most beautifully illustrated soundtrack packages ever released.


* Condition of Shellac Records: The sides of the three discs range from very good+ to excellent condition, these discs have rarely been out of the gatefold.


* Gatefold Portfolio Condition: Very Good+ — clean, solid binding, rich and unfaded colors, and well-preserved artwork. Minor edge wear and light age toning as expected from an 86-year-old piece. No major tears or restoration, with only one small tear (as pictured).


The title featured on the cover is: Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs exclusive recordings from the actual sound film on “His Master’s Voice”. The illustration, adapted from Gustaf Tenggren’s painting and was used again on the French story album.


The owner can also personalize the album by writing their name on it. Snow White holds this text: “Dear …, Snow White sends her love, and hopes that you will like these records of her adventures with the Seven Dwarfs.” A discreet mention reveals that the album was printed in England in March 1938 by permission of Walt Disney – Mickey Mouse LTD. A summary of the story is printed on one page. Once unfolded, drawings illustrated each song and a little text explains the context.


This U.K. set predates the LP era and was produced at a time when full-length animated features were still a radical innovation. It stands as one of the earliest Disney feature soundtracks ever released, and a landmark in both film and recording history.

Very few complete sets survive today — even fewer in this condition. This item is ideal for the serious Disneyana collector, shellac enthusiast, or museum-quality private collection.
