VINTAGE 1940 MGM RADIO TRANSCRIPTION 16" DISC- "BITTER SWEET"  Jeanette MacDonald-Nelson Eddy
This is an original 16" radio transcription disc (air-trailer) produced by MGM Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. These discs were never sold to the public. they were pressed in very limited quantities and shipped exclusively to radio stations as a broadcasted promo "trailer" for the movie's upcoming local release. It is a 33-1/3 rpm, however it will not play on a normal home turntable due to the 16" size. It requires a larger vintage transcription turntable used by radio stations. It was intended to be destroyed after use. Fortunately, this one was stored away and was saved from extinction. "BITTER SWEET" was an MGM musical starring Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. It was for release on October 15, 1940. It is program MGM-21539 It is labeled "start inside" so the needle is place on the inside rater than the outside to play toward the rim.
