Description

In the 1940s Glenn Miller recorded his theme song Moonlight Serenade for broadcast to Allied soldiers during WW II. This is an original acetate recording of that song. On the B side is the Glenn Miller AAF band in September, 1944 with a great rendition of Long Ago And Far Away sung in German By Johnny Desmond. This was a rare broadcast sent to enemy soldiers. The programs were broadcast from HMV studios, Abbey Road London, and were introduced by a german speaking lady. Miller himself spoke sort of german, much to the amusement of his colleagues. It seems that the broadcasts were labeled as "Music for the Wehrmacht". Post war research revealed that despite German jamming, much of the broadcasting got through, especially to the Germans.

This record is in excellent++ condition. It is missing a B side label describing the Johnny Desmond song. Buyer will include $5 for shipping. Thanks.
