Item: 1942 WWII 16" Transcription Vinyl Record HARRY JAMES Armed Forces Radio Service.
Description - please read: Up for bid tonight, some of the rarest recordings in the world. These 16" transcription vinyl records were shipped to select radio stations for a single airing, then returned to the production company for melting and recycling. They were never meant to be issued to the public. As such, they are all rare or one-of-a-kind. These are all from the World War II period and include "Armed Forces Radio Service" (AFRS), and "MacGregor" / "C. P. Mac Gregor", Hollywood CA.
These 16" LP's require special apparatus to play as they spin at 33 1/3 rpm, but are 16" wide. These were cut with a "standard" groove width to achieve the best sound possible and they were the "master recordings" used to air public radio broadcasts. They all feature popular music of the WWII era. Here's a rare opportunity to get the good stuff...
All records come with an original sleeve (usually unmarked but some have writing or manufacturer printing). These sleeves range in grade from VG++ to G. I'll put the first selling and highest-priced records in the best sleeves.
