Description
16 Inch Radio Transcription Disc recorded by Universal Recording Company, New York City. Two partial radio programs, Approximately 31 minutes this 16 inch, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm disc. This disc was recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, Very Rare!
Woody Herman & His Orchestra from The Cafe Rouge at The Hotel Pennsylvania In New York City from September 30, 1944. This is the last half, approximately 15 minutes of a 30 minute live remote. Woody Herman & His Orchestra perform "Up Up Up" vocal Frances Wayne, "Some Things Never Change" vocal Woody Herman, "Flyin' Home", closing theme "Blue Flame".
"Victory Parade Of Spotlight Bands" Radio program from September 30, 1944 starring Louis Prima & His Orchestra performing from Haymes Industries, Inc in Jackson, Michigan, makers of parts for the B-29 Super Fortress Bombers. This disc contains the first half of the program, the first approximately 16 1/2 minutes. Songs include "Robin Hood" vocal Louis Prima, "Just Close Your Eyes" vocal Lily Ann Carol, "Angelina" vocal Louis Prima, "Irish Lullaby", "Embraceable You" vocal Lily Ann Carol. Program includes a commercial for Coca Cola. The disc starts a couple seconds into the introduction to the show.
The labels are typed on the back of Universal Recording Company labels. I scanned both sides of both labels. Universal Recording Company was owned by musician Raymond Scott. Both labels are loose and can be re attached to the disc if desired
Disc is in Excellent- condition. The Woody Herman side has Excellent sound, the Louis Prima side has Excellent- sound, beautiful disc
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer
