Available is a full 6-album Columbia Masterworks Set M-589 of MAHLER Symphony No. 4 in G Major, conducted by Bruno Walter with the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (PSO) of New York. This set with cloth binding was recorded by Columbia on 10 May 1945 at Carnegie Hall, and represents the EARLIEST production of this catalogue number. The cover design is a Steinweiss original--two variations were created--and this one is the harder-to-find variant...

This set of 78rpm albums is comprised of virgin vinyl, at an approximate 330 grams per album. This set is in Excellent audio condition with NO skips, sticks or pops throughout its entire play. All twelve sides tested, with perfect play-through.

This is an amazingly preserved piece of recording history with Columbia Masterworks early recording series. The vinyl visually looks fabulous, and the 330 gram construction is extremely sturdy. The box and cover are in Good+ condition: sturdy, with some fraying at the upper and lower seams. However, outer cover is NOT ATTACHED to inner box sleeves--it needs to simply be replied to spine.
