Description

At this time I have decided to sell my remaining Dial Records rarities and on offer in this auction is an original, vintage '1946/47 DIAL RECORDS 'CHARLIE PARKER' Promotional Photo'.

This original, high quality glossy photo measures approximately 20cm x 26cm (8" x 10") and is in fantastic near mint (NM) condition. The photo is virtually free of marks, scratches, or creases, with only the white corners of the photo showing light creases. There is just a light bit of age toning in the white border area. The back of the photo is a clear blank white.

The famous photo of Parker, taken at one of Dial's early Los Angles recording sessions, promotes and advertises three of Bird's earliest and greatest releases with Dial, namely Dial 1002 'Ornithology', 1003 'Yardbird Suite', and 1007 'Lover Man'. Since the photo mentions Dial 1007, which was recorded at the fateful session of July 26, 1946, the photo may have been issued in late 1946 or early 1947.

This is truly a seminal piece of be-bop and modern jazz history
