In 2011, Grapefruit Moon Gallery was invited to work on a book about the history of American pin up with publishing house TASCHEN. Earlier this year, The Art of Pin Up appeared on the scene. In part written by Grapefruit Moon Gallery co-owner Sarahjane Blum Murphy, the new volume is an encyclopedic, beautiful and massive coffee table book that is already becoming a staple in collector's libraries. A follow up to 1996's The Great American Pin Up by Charles Martigentte and Louis Meisel, which popularized the genre, the new volume explores the careers of the artists who created these classic images, the magazines, calendars and collectibles which showcased pin up throughout the 20th century and the current culture of collecting, remixing and remembering the history of the art. While researching the book, TASCHEN acquired a world-class collection of vintage paper, novelties and rare pin up treasures, which the item in this listing was a part of. ITEM: An original 10" Vogue picture record from 1946, the only year in which these records were in production. A beautiful, antique collectible, each side of the record is adorned with a pin-up illustration that ties in to the song recorded on that side. This is catalog number R781 and both songs are by Art Kassel and his Orchestra, titled "I Love You (For Sentimental Reasons)" and "Sooner or Later."
CONDITION: The record is in fine cosmetic condition with a chip and some surface wear to one side. The other side is clean. We haven't played the record and are selling it as a collectible.
