Description

A vintage set of three 78 records, in a fold out album, titled: Mexican Melodies played by Jose’ Arias and his Troubadours. The album is signed by Arias, with a personal word to the purchaser. The album was produced by H and M Records in San Jacinto, California. The record label states: Licensed by manufacturer only for noncommercial use for phonographs in homes. Manufacturer and original purchaser agree this record shall not be resold for any other purpose.

An information sheet, with the record, indicates that this was the first time Jose’ Arias recorded an album. Songs include: La Golondrina, Cielito Linda, Zacatecas, El Capotin, Mi Sueno Eres Tu, and Tarde de Toros. The album interior and exterior are in great condition, with just a slight amount of age related wear. The three records appear to be in good condition with slight use wear and some scattered very shallow scratches.

This is a hard to find item, especially one that is personally signed by the artist. This album was purchased from Jose in 1951 and its provenance is known.

A little history....Jose Arias was born in 1889 in Mexico. He immigrated to Riverside, California in 1910. Jose and his brothers-in-law began playing at the Mission Inn. During his career he played for Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and Rudolph Valentino, as well was being invited to play at the World's Fair in San Diego.

The Arias Troubadour entertainers are now in their 4th generation. They have performed for US presidents and countless celebrities. They will be playing at the Ramona Pageant in Hemet California this Spring.
