NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR INFANTILE PARALYSIS RADIO SHOW TRANSCRIPTION DISC. TWO COMPLETE APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTE RADIO PROGRAMS ON THIS 16 INCH, RED VINYL, 33 1/3 RPM DISC. THIS DISC WAS ISSUED TO RADIO STATIONS FOR BROADCAST ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VERY RARE!
This disc contains two radio programs which were sponsored by The National Foundation For Infantile Paralysis which were intended to bring attention and support to the fight against polio in children. Disc is circa 1953 and is pressed by RCA Victor
1. "Press Interview - Topic Polio" radio program featuring a discussion titled "How Can I Best Protect My Child From Polio". The discussion is moderated by Walter Cronkite and features Dr. Hart Von Riper (medical director of The National Foundation For Infantile Paralysis) taking questions from members of the press including Alton Blakeslee (science editor of The Associated Press), Marguerite Clark (medical editor of Newsweek Magazine), Barbara Hertz (associate editor of Parent's Magazine). A very interesting show in which the potential for a vaccine and current Polio treatments and preventions are discussed. 15 minutes
2. "Billy Eckstine" radio program featuring Billy Eckstine and announcer Glenn Riggs who talk about how to avoid exposing children to Polio during Polio season. The following Billy Eckstine records are played "I Laugh To Keep From Crying", "Send My Baby Back To Me", "I Apologize". 15 minutes
