Description

     This is a 45 rpm metal acetate record or 'Special Release' from King Records. This features Sugar Ray Robinson with 'I Shoulda Been on My Merry Way' and 'Knock him Down Whiskey,' nos. K-8419; K-8420. This is a pretty amazing set of songs by one of the greatest Boxers ever to grace the ring. Both are vocal jump blues songs in the style of Louis Jordan--the first a sexy blues with a sultry sounding female countering Sugar Ray, while the second is about a Boxing match between Whiskey and a young fellow named John--both songs are nice, though some might object to Sugar Ray's loose vocal style--but does anyone really want to tell him to his face! This is not dated but likely dates to 1953, and is also likely very rare.  

      

This has light overall wear-the record has had only slight use but has some slight edge flaking.
