1953 first anywhere issue Orange with Gold lettering labels, unlaminated flipback sleeve UK Decca LXT 2566: Ossy Renardy in the Brahms Violin Concerto with Munch and the Concertgebouw. A truly superb account that for many was never surpassed in the stereo analogue era, let alone by other mono era versions. This, the Kogan and the Martzy are my own three top accounts, with Renardy having the lightest touch, giving the most delicate silvery tone of the three, and probably having the strongest accompaniment of the three also. Before listening to this throughout for the playgrade, I was of the opinion that I may have heard the work enough times in my life, in concert and via recordings, but it came back to its correct status as one of the greatest concertos. A few very light fine marks only, none feelable, this plays beautifully on a mono cart, and pretty good on a stereo cart. Sleeve is complete and mainly clean, with a number on each side, rubbing to the centre of the spine. These are very hard to find much better than this as this is from the birth of vinyl, the LXT series begins with 2500, so only the 66th issue of the golden age FFRR lps. Sleeve pic confirms the 1st year issue. First one of these in 30 years of selling classical lps.
, record is not warped, labels are clean.
When we post this to you, it will be packed in a hard card custom made new box.
