ANTAL DORATI 1955 Tchaikovsky Complete Recording Mercury Living Presence 3 LP Vinyl Records Oliver Messel Vinyl
This auction is for a 1955 three 33 1/3 record Set of The Sleeping Beauty Ballet. It is Antal Dorati conducting the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. It is the complete recording of Tchaikovsky’s original score. It is a Mercury Living Presence High Fidelity Recording. These 3 LPs Sides 1-6, 2-5, 3-4 have been protected 57 years in heavy paper sleeves in a beautiful fairytale-like glittery spiral album. The album has very little age and use related wear. There is a stain on the back of the first sleeve and a 1 ½” tear at the top inside corner of the back of the third sleeve. (See Photos) The album is illustrated on the cover and throughout by Oliver Hilary Sambourne Messel. (See Photos) He also designed the costumes and sets for the Royal Ballets producyion of The Sleeping Beauty. They do show minimal use related marks on the lables near the holes, a ½” surface scratch on side 3 and (2) 3” surface scratches on side 6. The sratching causes only a very slight soft popping sound. Other than that they play beautifully and sound wonderful.
There is wear on the top & bottom corners of the spine of the album. (See Photos)
