Description

This is our first sale from a top of the market collection, comprising of just early stereo rarities on Decca HMV, UK Columbia & RCA. First labels issues in Near Mint condition to 99% of them, all described in detail with plenty of pictures. Includes many items rarely seen on ebay.

1957 First year pressing of Uk Decca 1957 LXT 5362/3 Kleiber conducts the VPO in the Beethoven 9th. No SXL Exists. This is an absolute beauty of a ninth, in that short pantheon of legendary performances alongside the Furtwangler, Klemperer & Leibovitz, with none of the Karajan accounts coming within a mile of the poetry in the performance here. there is also an especially pleasing vocal quartet to the finale. Note also the filler is a Schuricht Beethoven 1st, a thing of beauty in itself.

curved cut flipback sleeve with printers date of October 1957. Labels are ED1 with original pancake outer groove & silver lettering on an orange background. This set is near mint with no marks to the playing surfaces, has clean labels and the sleeves are Excellent. Flips are clean, no pen or excess dirt, no splits or bends.

Good selection of rarities in my list this week..
