                        In 1958 former Hollywood sound man Harry Belock - the owner of Belock Instrument Corp., a company "engaged chiefly in the development and production of ultra-secret military devices" - and audio retailer/engineer Bert Whyte formed the Everest record label. They were early pioneers of 'audiophile' sound, and used Whyte-modified Westrex 3-track 35mm film soundtrack recorders.

                        Everest Stereo only produced about a hundred classical recordings but they rival - and often surpass - any recordings released by Decca/London, RCA, and Mercury.
