Description
One of a nice collection of Classical rarities we have just had in, a single cherished and many unplayed lps.
Decca UK 1958 ED1 SXL 2020 Espana! Blue Back earliest type sleeve long time featured on the TAS List. LSO & Argenta in Spanish themed works by Rimsky Korsakov, Granados, Chabrier & Moszkowski. "Original Recording By" deep grooved labelsand the curved cut first type flipback sleeve. Best 1E1E stampers. We all know this can go for up to four figures and often goes for high hundreds, so I have gone to a bit of trouble with the condition report that follows. Side one is visually a strong mint minus, and neither side has any feelable marks. Side two has a couple of light scuffs, so is closer to excellent visually, but they are background in the sound when heard. The programme of music is very dynamic, so lots of the time you could not tell this from a pristine one, but there are quiet moments and some surface noise was present on the first play through, with the occasional pop also. It is a 55 year old album, and it appears to have had low plays from the clean state of the labels. All seams and flips intact, with just a white patch as seen to the bottom of the front, which is a scuff to the print layer. On balance, having heard this and the speakers corner, I would say this is slightly more dynamic.
Heard throughout, this played Excellent to excellent minus, may improve with a clean (it certainly picked up dirt on the stylus, so the second play will be better possibly). Sleeve also about excellent.
