Here is a MEGA RARE autographed vintage PROMO album, a "holy grail" Buddy Holly record up for sale: Buddy's self titled album, "Buddy Holly", released in 1958 during Buddy's brief but stellar lifetime! This is a scarce promotional pressing from 1958, PLUS even more rare is that this album cover is SIGNED by Buddy's wife MARIA ELENA HOLLY! Great portrait of Buddy and Maria's signature next to it with "Buddy Holly Lives" in her handwriting, cool!
(note: I had the great pleasure to meet Buddy's widow the lovely Maria Elena Holly circa 2003 when she attended a theater production of "The Buddy Holly Story" in San Jose CA. I had brought 3 albums out of my collection in case I had the chance to meet her and fate was kind. She was very lovely and signed all three for me! I'm keeping the other two I have but am offering this one a kind historic item up to the Buddy Holly collector who thought they had it all! Signed by the first lady of Rock n roll!! I don't have a COA but I do include a photo of Maria as she appeared when signing my albums after the theater production.)
Released in 1958 by Coral Records, CRL-87210 (mono). The rigid record rates strong VG+, is glossy and clean, has only a few light marks on both sides, nothing heavy, has been PLAY TESTED! Plays from start to finish with very good sound quality, minimal surface noise, only a couple of light pops, no skips, no jumps, a VERY enjoyable listen! The 50's style promo labels have some age discoloration and torn paper at edge, red writing possibly from DJ.
The cover rates VG, front is clean and bright, Maria's handwriting is in black marker and is without ring wear, has edge/corner wear and all seams have been neatly repaired with tape (binder not readable), the back has a couple light spot stains, an older tape repair at bottom has started to yellow. You can see some ring wear on front cover also. Includes vintage 1950's Coral plastic baggie inner sleeve, clean! (see all photos).
