1965 The Genius of COLEMAN HAWKINS ED1 UK HMV CLP 1293 of the US Verve, in true Mono. Clean Near Mint. Oscar Peterson on Piano in this small group session, Mainstream standards through to bop from the mightly saxophone legend. Lovely How Long's this been going on here. At the tail end of his career he was well established as a force in bebop, but before that, he is the most important saxophonist in its development as a solo instrument with its own voice, not just imitating the clarinet. That's what makes this such a great lp, him being a seasoned all rounder, with incredible chops still. Not as modern as the Impulse one also listed, but beautiful playing from him throughout and hard to find this clean. A couple of buzzy moments of distortion, but I will clean this on the wash and vacuum machine, and hopefully it will be quieter then. A really sought after Impulse in the rarer UK issue, which would have sold nothing, when my fellow Brits were obsessed with Trad Jazz. This was way too forward looking for them!. Fully Near mint unmarked LP in a near mint sleeve. Plays Near Mint in big valve mono sound from the golden age of HMV audiophile pressings, sharing the hallmarks of a 3 digit ASD of the era. Correct mono corner flipback sleeve and 1st for the year black labels. Lowest 1/1 ending stampers, this is probably a HMV master to superior quality vinyl. Note I have the matching 1957 HMV Genius of also in beautiful condition in my ebay store. Our ethos is to offer you best sounding analogue only pressings of vintage records.
