This is the 1957 Miles Davis MILES AHEAD +19 with Gil Evans Original Columbia 6 Eye Logo MONO Album. The matrix numbers are XLP 41762 1D & XLP 41763 1C. There are only a few spindle marks on the label - no writing or tape on either side - very clean. The album has almost no visible scuffs or scratches and nothing that affects play. Almost all of the original gloss is still intact. Using the Goldmine grading system I would  grade it VG+++ or better. ( I try to grade conservatively). The album jacket shows light wear from age and handling with a few corner bumps and  slight ring wear but no tape or splits. The previous owners name has been written on the front cover otherwise it would grade it VG+". Original clear plastic inner sleeve is still with the album. Many Columbia issues from this time period came with this type of sleeve. This is an extremely nice example of an original Miles Davis MILES AHEAD. I'm including a brief description of Grades to help clarify them for the novice collector. NEAR MINT; A nearly perfect record. Basically, an LP in Near Mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed it from the shrink wrap. Many dealers won't give a grade higher than this. VERY GOOD PLUS: "record will show signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect ones listening experience. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. An LP jacket may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole". VERY GOOD: Surface noise will be evident upon playing but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them". GOOD/GOOD PLUS: "A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve will have seem splits. Tape writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object". S/H is Priority w/tracking & insurance and includes a new album mailer. I will ship media mail if you wish but recommend insurance if you choose this method. I have recently had some media mailing take up to 3 weeks to arrive.
