We go to estate sales regularly and come across a wide array of unique and rare items. We add to our growing online inventory daily. We pick up new items from all over the world and all over the US. We purchased a very large classical and jazz album collection from a former DJ for a local Atlanta area radio station, WBLJ in Dalton, GA, back in the 1950s-1970s awhile back. We bought the collection for the jazz albums, but never got around to listing the classical albums. Almost every album is a radio station promo and they are almost all in exceptional condition with jet black vinyl and many look like they could've been pressed yesterday. We'll be listing them individually and in lots over the coming weeks since it will take awhile to list well over 1,000 albums. In order to help with soaring prices seemingly everywhere, we will be offering 'pay for shipping on your first album or lot and receive FREE shipping on all other albums, as long as they're made in one purchase and all ship together. We charge a bit more for shipping on lots versus individual albums, so if a lot is included in the purchase, the shipping cost for that lot will be all you pay for shipping.
Also keep in mind that promo albums were among the very first albums to be pressed by the manufacturer, after test albums. These albums were distributed to radio stations to play and promote the album prior to release for sale to consumers. As most record aficionados know, the earlier the pressing, the better the sound quality.
Now onto the item for sale.
For sale is an Abyssinian Baptist Gospel Choir Under the Direction of Professor Alex Bradford PROMO LP, released by Columbia Masterworks in 1960.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not play test albums, as that would take us a lifetime to do for thousands of albums. We give a visual description and estimated grade of the vinyl. Please see the pictures above for an idea of the condition of the labels, sleeves and album cover or box, if a box set. If there are any condition issues that you can't see, such as seam splits, scratches or spots on the vinyl, we will indicate that in the description. If you disagree with our estimated condition, as always, we will be happy to provide a full or partial refund.
As you can see, this album has jet black vinyl, the labels are exceptional and the album sleeve is in decent condition, but has seen its better days, with seam splits on the bottom and one side 1 1/2-2" long. It is also torn at the top as shown in the pictures above. The album cover is in decent condition, but has also seen it's better days. It has seams splits at both the top and bottom beginning from the very far right edge. The top one goes abou 40% of the way across and the bottom one goes about 2/3s of the way across. The DJ also put a small piece of tape on the bottom that has since detached from the back.
The vinyl on the album is really clean with a dozen or so really light scratches. There are also some really light marks on the vinyl from being stored for decades that will almost certainly come off with a proper cleaning. We'd estimate this album to be in very good to very good plus condition since it has more scratches than we like to see.
This album will be shipped in a cardboard album box via media mail with the USPS.
