We purchased a very large classical and jazz album collection from a former DJ for a local Atlanta area radio station back in the 1950s-1970s years ago.  We bought the collection for the jazz albums, but never got around to listing the classical albums.  Almost every album is a radio station promo album and the are all in exceptional condition with jet black vinyl and look like they could've been pressed yesterday.  We've picked up several other classical album collections along the way as well and we will be listing some individually and some in lots.  It will take us a while to list them all given that we have about 2,000 of them.  As with everything we sell, we offer combined shipping and only charge whatever the quoted rate is based on the total weight for media mail.  If classical vinyl is your thing, feel free to add us to your favorite sellers list and check out our inventory as we add more as often as time permits.

Now onto the item for sale.

For sale is a Beethoven: Eroica Symphony album released in England in 1960.

As you probably know, these Decca albums pressed in England from the 1960s are highly sought after and very hard to find.

The matrix numbers are ZAL-4801-2E and ZAL-4802-1E.

This release has the black and silver grooved wideband labels, 'original recording by' at 11 o'clock, 'made in England' at the bottom and Decca 'musical notes' logo with 'recording first published 1960' above the logo on both labels.

The album cover has a boxed Decca logo on both sides, a laminated front, thin spine with no text, 'Cover: THE WINE DRINKERS - Vermeer by courtesy of Pulman & Sons Ltd.' on the back, '© The Decca Record Co. Ltd., London, 1960' on the back and the unsigned liner notes on the back in English.

The album cover does not have flipbacks, 'Laminated with "Clarifoil" made by British Celanese Limited' on the bottom flipback, 'printed in England' on the bottom flipback or a printing date.

The vinyl on this album is incredibly clean, particularly for 64 year old vinyl.  We were actually surprised when we inspected it and noticed how clean it was.  Although it is only our opinion, we very rarely give any album a near mint grade, but the vinyl is jet black with no smudges, marks or prints often seen on older vinyl.  There are also very few scratches combined on both sides of the album and they are all very light and small.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not play test albums, as that would take us a lifetime to do for thousands of albums.  We give a visual description and estimated grade of the vinyl.  Please see the pictures above for an idea of the condition of the vinyl, labels, sleeves and album cover or box, if a box set.  If there are any condition issues, such as scratches, seam splits or other issues, we will indicate that in the description.

As you can see, the labels are both very clean and look outstanding, but you can see some light spindle marks when holding them at an angle under a good light source.  The original album sleeve is in really nice condition with no seam splits, but as you can see, it has been bent and/or creased over the decades on the corners outside of the area of the album.

As you probably know, the album covers on these albums from Europe are made of thick paper stock versus the thin cardboard stock U.S. albums are overwhelmingly made from.  This album cover is in really nice condition with no seam splits, tears or writing.  However, the edges have darkened and several small areas around the edges, as you can see above.
