Description
Here for your bidding is one of the great holy grails of classical vinyl, a British Columbia stereo 1960s pressing of Leonid Kogan in the Tchaikovsky violin concerto and Meditation. Silvestri conducts the PCO. We all know the 1st pressing of this is now in the 3 to 4 thousand pounds territory, so if that is a little rich for your blood, here is a fully identical sounding pressing on the 2nd label that is likely to come in at ten percent of the above. I took intense pleasure in the play grade for this, trying not to be distracted by that gorgeous silvery tone of Kogans playing in what is surely the definitive account of the concerto. The vinyl is flat, the labels are clean, there are very few spindle marks, great luck for a 55 year old lp. One fine mark to the start of side 2 tics gently in places. My several attempts to photograph it failed to reveal it, but I have included the most revealing pic. There are no 50+ year old lps that play silently, if you want that buy a new one or a cd!. Having said that I was able to enjoy it with a minimum amount of surface noise or pops. Excellent record in an excellent sleeve, playing excellent.
We pack in a new cardboard box. This lp is an a new heavy gauge poly outer, with the record stored behind the sleeve in a new antistatic inner, with the original intact company inner included in the package.
