Nice broad selection from my own collection being offered this week in our ebay store. Superb original British pressings from the 50s to 70s of the cream of modern jazz, many big names, some niche rarities like this.
1961 ED1 (i.e.1st Uk press) Riverside Mono Thelonious Monk Septet - Monks Music UK white label test pressing Lp. The US white label pressings went for a four figure sum. This has RLP 12 242 in the run out grooves. It really is a 62 year old near mint pre release test of the actual release, which they would have listened to and approved, because it has the same matrixes as the issue. It is the first issue anywhere in Europe. Fairly sure this is the only small group of Coltrane and Coleman Hawkins in the same band, plus the sublime Art Blakey in the drum seat.
LP. A wonderful lp in surely its most desirable form: the audiophile valve amp signal to lathe pressing of the Interdisc (with late 50s/early 60s Pye pressing plant label centre dishing) 1st European issue from the Riverside master tapes on to high quality virgin vinyl, as was used by Pye in the 60s. Test pressings are by their nature the first ones off the press, so a full clean strike of the metalwork from the first hundred or so of however many thousand were pressed, this one could well have just been a thousand as a first issue, as the normal pressing can go for what I am asking. Sounds wonderful using an Ortofon mono cart, as you would expect, and the music is top shelf. Near mint record & VG+ plain 1st era flipback sleeve, with the original art work added by me, and the rear text added as an insert as shown in the pics. I always show this type of added artwork off the sleeve, as people who do not read the description tend to say I have faked it, but you would need to check the price of a vintage shaped labels pressing by people like the Electrical Record Co, who sell them for £1600 upwards!. Our ethos is to offer you best sounding analogue only pressings of vintage records. Here is another beauty of that type. We offer massive postage subsidies to overseas buyers on multiple purchases. i.e £1 extra per lp to a maximum of £15, then no extra charge. We pack carefully in custom made hard card boxes. If the appearance or playgrade suggests it requires it, our records are cleaned on a wash and vac machine, using art du son fluid in distilled water. This is already in a new heavy poly outer with antistatic inners added with outer sleeve and records all layered behind each other to prevent splits.
