Description
Nice clean country of origin low plays stereo original of this 52 year old lp. Rough
textured plum and silver labels without the UK SABL code, so a real Netherlands one.
Lovely gatefold with loads of pics and essays of the Mahler first from the early days of
Haitink at the Concertgebouw, the hall and the conductors before him, including Monteux.
I remember a violinist friend telling me that during his time with the BBC SO, the
greatest experience he personally had of a conductor completely breathing life in to
their performance of a work they had played hundreds of times was under him. This Mahler
cycle has magic about it, and opens with this delight of a first. Lovely capture in the
concertgebouw itself, one of the greatest concert halls in the world.
Near Mint Lp, with clean labels with few spindle marks, Near Mint Sleeve. plays beautifully also.
