1964 Munsters Epic Recalled Promo 45 & Pic Slv PS

So rare that many have theorized that it was a promotional only release (meaning it was never released for retail sales to the general public), this is the terrific picture sleeve created in 1964 by Epic for the CBS TV Munster's show Epic 5-9728. Here including a NM- copy of the white label PROMO label 45, the record featured the Munster's Theme song, played by the Milton DeLugg Orchestra. What makes this item so great is that Epic was forced to recall the 45 (and the LP from which it was taken) due to licensing rights of the Munster family photo image. Apparently, Epic skipped that little step of obtaining a license for the name and images from the TV show from its creators, Kayro-Vue. You will note that nowhere is the Kayro-Vue name shown on either the disc or sleeve. So back came all of the 45's and LP's, never to be seen again, although the album was subsequently released with a non-Munster cover.

And it's too bad the sleeve became so rare, because it has a great, if low contrast, photo of the full cast from the show. You will note that this is a VERY early promotional photo, for Butch Patrick's hair is still combed forward, not swept back to expose the exaggerated "widow's peak" as seen when the show aired. In any event, this is a very RARE item, for both Munsters and record collectors. How many times has it ever surfaced here on eBay? 

Clearly an original release and not a reprint, scan or copy of any kind, the sleeve shows moderate ring wear and is only very lightly aged, with some wrinkling and rolling at the upper mouth. That same photo graphic is printed on the rear, too, where we see just a bit more ring wear. In our photos, below, that area of white toward the right edge is just a bit of glare reflection from our photography lamps and is NOT on the sleeve. Overall, we grade the picture sleeve as a VG- or C7-. Packaged outside the picture sleeve to preserve those side seams, the 45 disc is held in a plain white paper sleeve. This white label disc is magnificent and graded an easy NM-, C9+. Probably never played, there are no flaws at all. Printed in bold lettering right on the label is "Radio Station Copy".

Condition: Condition is rated on a scale of C1 to C10, with C10 being a flawless, perfect condition. Our grading is inherently very conservative. We are collectors ourselves and grade accordingly.

Payment: Payment is expected within 10 (ten) days of notification by OUR initial email. We do not use the eBay checkout system - ignore all checkout procedures other than our email. Please wait for our Invoice before contacting us or remitting any payments. We Invoice the day after the auctions close, but some customers, especially AOL users have been experiencing difficulty in receiving our emailed Invoices. Postal or Bank Money Orders or Certified Checks (not a Teller’s or Bank check) preferred. Personal, business or non-Certified checks are accepted but can take up to three weeks to clear before shipment of item. We accept credit card payments only through PayPal for US bidders only. Shipping: Actual freight and mandatory insurance costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. No item over $15 in value is sent without full insurance, for our mutual protection. Most all parcels are sent by US Priority Mail service, which allows us to utilize USPS provided materials at no cost and pass these savings along to our customers. We do not bill any other shipping or handling charges except the actual shipping expenses if sent by Priority Mail. Parcels too large or bulky for Priority will be sent by either UPS, Airborne or FedEx and may incur additional packaging costs which will ALWAYS be stated in the ad description. Foreign orders will incur significantly higher postage and are sent WITHOUT insurance (your risk!).
