Description
[A well-known UK Beatles and music memorabilia dealer is currently offering a set of these badges with a tattier backing card but with an additional paper order form for £450.]
Although they were made available to the general public via mail order ads in the music press and daily newspapers - see pic 4, from the NME, included here for information only and not part of this lot - they were the Official Beatles Fan Club badges produced by Norman Drees Associates under a licence granted by NEMS Enterprises Ltd.
The badges measure 1 & 1/4 inches (approx 3 cm) in diameter. There are four in the set: a badge for each individual Beatle. They are still on the original backing card they were dispatched with, which has the unused order form for additional sets still attached.
Badges in excellent condition. Original backing card is complete with some creasing and minor marking from contact with badges.
The set of badges is listed and pictured in the 3rd edition of Augsburger et al's The Beatles Memorabilia Guide as item 666.
Reproductions were made in the 1970s with some of the detailing in red. The originals were entirely black and white. These are originals.
