Description

Up for bid is an incredibly rare 1965 Detroit garage album, FRIDAY AT THE CAGE A-GO-GO (Westchester 1005). In the 2001 Osborne guide this LP books for $1000-$1500. That is, of course, if you could find one. I haven't talked to a Detroit-area collector yet who has ever even seen one. Here is the info provided in the guide: "Distributed at the Cage A-Go-Go club and other locations. Some copies have a sticker on labels showing title as Long Hot Summer. Not issued with a cover." Featured on this album, among other Detroit garage bands, are The Fugitives, whose members included Gary and Glen Quackenbush, later of Scot Richard Case/SRC. The LP has the Long Hot Summer sticker on both sides. On side two, an address label is over the sticker. On side one, the name "C. Martin" is printed. The album has been played. The vinyl has some scuffing and surface scratches. I've listened to the entire LP twice and it plays fine, with minor surface noise; no skips or pops.

SIDE ONE - Gloria Oxford Five; Shake a Tail Feather Lourds; Out Of Sight Lourds; All I Really Want To Do Oxford Five; That's How Strong My Love Is Individuals.

SIDE TWO - Said Goodbye Fugitives; Good Lovin' Lourds; You Can't Make Me Lonely Fugitives; I Don't Wanna Talk Fugitives; The World I've Planned Oxford Five.

This is a true show-stopper item and a fabulous addition to any collection. Please email me with any questions. Thank you for your interest.
