Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

               ORIGINAL 1965 MONO FIRST PRESS
MEGA RARE BEAT ROCK "PARLOPHONE" COLLECTIBLE

                                ..

                 The ROULETTES

                  "Stakes & Chips"

              USA - (yellow/black) PARLOPHONE PMC 1257

Super-rarity in glorious MONOPHONIC

THE ROULETTES Stakes & Chips is extremely rare, a collector's dream ... the original 1965 UK 14-track mono LP is on the black & yellow UK  Parlophone label, front laminated picture sleeve with round ended "flipbacks."

Impact sound throughout - while reviewing "Stakes & Chips" both ears and heart were in glorious "beat boom" heaven! The "Roulettes" LP, their only album was considered undistinguished at the time of its' release in 1965, but now the rare LP commands a heavy three - four figures sum (far more than our asking price) and on par in terms of rarity with the 'Apple' - "Apple A Day" Lp and other such artifacts of the type.

It`s hard to understand how this exceptionally talented band could have been ignored by the majority of the record-buying public back in 1965. Their "Tracks of My Tears" is simply outstanding; "The Long Cigarette" and "Bad Time" are nothing short of great. In fact, there are no weak tracks at all.

Plain and simple, if you love the British Invasion and the Mersey Beat sound you must listen to the Roulettes. Why they were not a bigger name in their time, we will never know. They are definitely one of the more eclectic groups that came out of Liverpool in the 60's.

In the similar vein to English bands from the 60's such as KALEIDOSCOPE, THE ATTACK, GRAPEFRUIT, THE ACTION, THE EYES, THE ARTWOODS, THE PEDDLERS, LES FLEUR DE LYS, TOMORROW, THE BIRDS, THE SORROWS, etc.)

Though not really a Liverpool band, the style of their music is very close to the sound of mid-60s Beatles. It is also noticeable their sound develops in a direction to that of the Zombies. They were all very competent musicians and though they were young they had already years of musical experience. Best known are Bob Henrit and Russ Ballard, who would later join Chris White and Rod Argent in the latter days Zombies, which would eventually turn into "Argent" ... The Roulettes were undoubtedly one of the best-playing British bands of the early 1960`s. They had the potential of making it very big. This unfortunately never happened. Their delivery is infectious; one that includes soaring harmonies behind strong lead vocals, crisp guitar playing, and the group had a good ear for creating memorable hooks.

CONDITION: The cover: rated: VG+(+) light handling around the edges (meaning a few small handling crinkles in lamination at spine which is normal for brittle lamination Lp's from England/Europe's '60s. The corners are slightly rounded from being in existance some 50+ years. Nevertheless this copy is very collectible, still has strong original colors (as in the photo!) -- there are no delete marks, no split seams, and no writing  ... VERY collection worthy ...

The vinyl: Rated: VG++ lots of original shine, few visible minor hair scuffs, nothing much, easily played with "EXCELLENT" audio throughout every track making for quite an enjoyable listen as a crowning UK beatrock artifact.  Both UK Parlophone (MONO) labels are clean

A cool addition to anyone's music library!
